The classic Rider-Waite Tarot in a miniature format, sized at 1.75 by 2.875 inches. This is the same familiar deck with all of its enduring Pamela Colman Smith artwork, simply made small enough to carry easily in a pocket or bag. An accessible choice for experienced readers who want the standard deck in a compact form.
Pamela Colman Smith was an artist, illustrator, and writer born in London who studied at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn under Arthur Wesley Dow. She became an illustrator and theatrical designer in England and is best known for illustrating the Rider-Waite Tarot in 1909 for Arthur Edward Waite. She was paid a flat fee with no ongoing royalties, and the publisher's name was placed on the deck rather than hers. In recent decades the tarot community has worked to correct this by referring to the deck as the Rider-Waite-Smith or Waite-Smith deck. Smith died in Bude, Cornwall in 1951.
