This Might Hurt Tarot Deck

Isabella Rotman started drawing this deck because she was teaching herself tarot and found that drawing each card was the most effective way to learn its symbolism. What began as a personal study project grew over two years into a complete 78-card deck with a distinct visual voice. The artwork is in Rotman's characteristic cartoonist style, rooted in the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition but thoroughly modern and inclusive, with diverse figures and a sensibility that feels warm rather than cold.

The cards are printed on high-quality 350 gsm matte paper with gilded edges, available in holographic pearl or holographic black. The deck comes in a rigid box with gold foil and magnetic closure. The guidebook includes an introduction, card descriptions, and a full-page black and white image of each card. Coloring was provided by Addison Duke, a Chicago-based illustrator for Dynamite and Image Comics.
