The Wonderland Tarot in a Tin

Lewis Carroll's Alice books have inspired tarot adaptations before, but the Wonderland Tarot handles the source material with particular cleverness. Artist Morgana Abbey deliberately echoes the hand-drawn Victorian style of Sir John Tenniel, the original illustrator of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, so the deck feels like it could have been designed alongside the books themselves. The beloved characters slot naturally into tarot roles: the Mad Hatter as the Fool, Alice as the High Priestess, Humpty Dumpty as the Sun, the White Rabbit as Judgement.

The Minor Arcana suits take an especially playful approach, using flamingos for Swords, peppermills for Staves, hats for Cups, and oysters for Coins. In a nod to the Queen of Hearts, playing card suit marks are also printed on the Minor Arcana cards, making the deck usable for ordinary card games as well as tarot readings. This pocket-sized tin edition comes with a 56-page booklet.
