The Llewellyn Tarot

The Llewellyn Tarot is one of the most accomplished Celtic-themed decks available, notable both for the quality of its watercolor artwork and the depth of the mythology woven through it. Anna-Marie Ferguson drew on Welsh legend to populate every card, and the results are vivid and specific: Rhiannon appears as the Empress, Bran the Blessed as the Emperor, Gwydion as the Magician, and figures from the Mabinogion appear throughout. The deck follows the Rider-Waite-Smith structure, so readings come naturally, while the mythological layer adds genuine richness for those who want to explore it.

The deck was created to mark the hundredth anniversary of Llewellyn Publications, honoring both the Welsh heritage of Llewellyn George, who emigrated to the United States in 1901, and the enduring power of Celtic storytelling. A full-size book accompanies the cards, explaining the myths connected to each image alongside divinatory meanings and two original spreads.

Sobre el Creador

Anna-Marie Ferguson was born in the New Forest of southern England and moved to western Canada at the age of nine, a division that has shaped her art ever since. Largely self-taught, she began her career at sixteen with a British graphic design studio before turning to illustration and painting. Her work focuses on historical and mythological subjects, particularly the Celtic traditions of Wales and Britain. She was nominated for the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta's Award of Distinguished Artist, and has devoted significant time in recent years to wildlife advocacy, including contributing to the documentary Unnatural Enemies, which won the 2016 Genesis Award.
