The Herbal Tarot

The Herbal Tarot is an unusual and practically useful deck that pairs a specific medicinal herb with each of the 78 cards, chosen through a combination of intuition, astrology, and energetic correspondence. The artist, Candice Cantin, worked closely with herbalist Michael Tierra to ensure that both the visual and the symbolic dimensions of each herb were accurately represented. The deck follows the general structure of the Rider-Waite system, so the tarot meanings carry over while the herbal layer adds an additional dimension to each reading.

The creators saw the deck as a way to engage the subconscious through the combined languages of plant medicine and tarot symbolism. The card backs feature sprigs of rosemary, and the included booklet offers both upright and reversed meanings for each card.
