The Brady Tarot is a deck rooted in the plants and animals of North America, rendered through the printmaker's craft of hand-colored linocuts. Artist Emi Brady brings a dual background in fine art printmaking and biology to the imagery, and that combination gives each card a quality that is both aesthetically precise and attentive to the natural world it depicts. The deck follows the Rider-Waite-Smith system in its structure while feeling entirely unlike any standard interpretation of it.
This second edition comes with 78 cards printed on 400-gram card stock, matte gold edges, and both physical and digital copies of the accompanying guidebook authored by the late tarot scholar Rachel Pollack. The cards and book both measure 3 by 5 inches.
Emi Brady is a printmaker and artist based in Denver, Colorado, raised in Memphis, Tennessee. She earned her BFA in printmaking from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and her MFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She also studied biology at Metro State University in Denver, a background that informs the naturalistic precision of her tarot imagery.
