Perrin Tarot 1865

Perrin Tarot 1865

The Perrin Tarot was printed in Turin around 1865 by lithographer Claudio Perrin and then disappeared almost entirely from the historical record. Perrin drew inspiration from the Tarot Soprafino, an elegant Milanese deck from around 1830, but gave his own version a distinctly original visual footprint in both the costumes and settings of each figure. The likely reason for its extreme rarity is that Perrin, despite his skill as a lithographer, lacked a distribution network for tarot cards. This limited edition of 600 is a faithful reproduction made possible by a private collector who owns one of the only known surviving copies. Available in a deluxe book-shaped box or a standard telescopic box, both handcrafted and covered with tobacco-marbleized paper, each set includes a historical booklet by Giordano Berti and a card-meanings leaflet by Giulia Orsini.
