Minchiate Al Cigno - Bologna 1775 CA.

Produced around 1775 in Bologna by a manufacturer known as Al Cigno, this Minchiate deck represents the extended card game tradition that flourished in Italy from the late 15th century onward. Minchiate developed by expanding the standard tarot pack, eliminating the High Priestess while adding Prudence, the three theological virtues, the four elements, and the twelve signs of the zodiac, resulting in a 97-card deck. Some scholars believe these additional cards may have originally served as teaching tools, connecting the game to classical learning of the period. This limited edition is part of Lo Scarabeo's Anima Antiqua series, printed on aged-looking card stock and packaged in a sturdy lift-top box. The edition number is revealed when the seal is opened.
