The Tarocchi di Hokusai is Osvaldo Menegazzi's tribute to Katsushika Hokusai, the great Japanese artist of the Edo period best known for his woodblock print series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. The Fool card in this deck reproduces the iconic Great Wave off Kanagawa, an appropriate starting point for the Fool's leap into the unknown. The 22-card majors-only deck was published in 2018 as a second edition of just 250 decks. Cards are large, measuring 3.5 by 7 inches, with square corners and a matte finish.
Osvaldo Menegazzi occupies a distinctive place in the history of Italian card-making. After graduating from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, he founded the publishing house Il Meneghello in 1974, driven by a desire to bring together his love of art and his passion for antique cards. Over the following decades he dedicated himself to recreating historically important decks and creating original works of his own. Il Meneghello became a significant publisher of cards treasured by collectors and held in museum collections worldwide.
